Exposing My Drafts & Why I Haven’t Posted Them

Since starting Blogtober this year, I have desperately needed to digitally organize. I am horrible at it, I have blog ideas and outlines in my Google Drive, notion, my notes app, and of course WordPress. When I get an idea or just want to write, I will just go wherever is “easiest” at the time. This has led to a big mess!

Today, I wanted to go through my drafts on WordPress and either delete them, finish them, or put them in the right spot. Let’s get into it!

Here are the oldest drafts that I have, and I am not sure why I haven’t deleted them. The oldest, A Collection of Shower Thoughts, is just a bunch of random depressing revelations I have had, and I haven’t updated it since 2022. I don’t see a reason for posting it, so it is getting tossed.

The next two were actually incorporated into a different post, so again, not sure why I have been hanging onto them. Bye!

Round 2

The next three posts are more recent. I haven’t posted what I have been creating lately because at the time of writing it, I had already shown what I was creating once or twice. It felt redundant to post the same photos. I may change the title and make it into a “What I Crafted This Year” wrap up post or something. I will keep it!

I did the Pilates by Izzy 25 day challenge in March, wrote an entire blog post about it, and never posted it. Why? Because I got too self conscious and didn’t know if I wanted to put my own progress photos in it. Would anyone find it helpful to read my experience if I didn’t even show my progress? Probably not, but since it is a complete post I am reluctant to trash it.

Last for this round is my Monthly Wrap-Up template, which I created when I started posting more regularly. I have a good hold on what I like to include in my Wrap-Ups now, so I don’t need the template anymore.

Round 3

Here is another round of “maybes”. I made the memory zine and uploaded all of the progress images for the post before Beef passed, and now I just feel weird. I may make another memory zine and post those images in a tutorial instead, but it has been hard to make them since he passed.

It is the same situation with my Canva Print review. The custom postcards came just days before he passed. It has been hard to see these posts in my drafts. I know I will purchase more from Canva, so again, there will be another opportunity to post about my experience purchasing from them.

For some reason I used a WordPress draft as a note taking tool for a Leonardo da Vinci documentary. I will paste those in the appropriate place and delete this draft!

Conclusion

The rest are Blogtober posts, making up 20 drafts in total. I don’t think I did as well as I could have. Should I have deleted more and started fresh, or post some of my posts that I’m iffy about?

Let me know how many drafts you currently have, or if you even use WordPress for the main place to draft your posts!

  1. It’s good to clean out the ol drafts sometimes. I used to have a lot of pre-drafted texts in my notes app, whether it be business or personal. What I fear the most though, is my Google Photos because I take so many screenshots trying to make sure I don’t forget things. 😅 Doesn’t always work.
