Talk or Treat- Let’s Plan Blogtober Wrapped

Hello and welcome to the last Talk or Treat of the year! The end of the month has come up fast, and soon there won’t be daily posts anymore. I have had a lot of fun attempting Blogtober for the second time, and it has taught me a lot about creativity and not overthinking everything I write.

Blogtober has also helped me fully embrace Autumn and has given me an excuse to eat seasonal treats through this series, Talk or Treat!

Today I will be snacking on some pumpkin roll flavored Twist and Shout cookies. They’re Walmart brand Oreos. I’m trying them for the first time while writing this post, and I think they are really good! After October ends I will probably retire from pumpkin, though.

yumm…

As for our talking point for this evening, I thought I would take you along in planning the end of Blogtober!

I’m working on doing a “Blogtober Wrapped” post, inspired by Spotify Wrapped. I got some comments from some people interested in doing their own version, so I figured I’d share what I’m planning on doing and what stats I’ll be including. If you have been participating in Blogtober and want to do something similar, feel free to use this as inspiration on what to share!

The first thing I did was look up Spotify Wrapped stat cards from previous years. I ended up finding some color pallet designs that I took the most inspiration from.

I just put the inspo pic in Canva and overlaid my own designs on top lol.

I really liked the “vintage” Halloween color scheme with the darker colors and brown, but if you design your own you can choose any color scheme. This would also be a cool idea for an end of year Blogging Wrapped post!

Mine looks so amateur compared to the OG inspiration, but I did it all myself (quite obviously T.T), even the cinnamon roll WordPress logo. The bottom pattern photo is from Pinterest.

I used my color scheme and patterns to create some statistics cards, and these can be about anything you want to reflect on! In my design photo, I included my top 5 posts, longest word count and shortest word count post, and what WordPress Achievements I got this month. Here are some more ideas that I’m thinking about including in my post depending on how much time I have. Feel free to use any of them!

  • I published [] posts this Blogtober, but [] stole the show.
    • first, second, and third podium with featured image and title

  • My shortest post was [] words. My longest was [], talk about range!
  • [] was my Top Supporter, showing up in the comments/ likes [] times.

  • My posts were read in [] countries. Basically a world tour, I’m a rockstar!

  • Most readers stopped by on [day of the week]

  • My Blogtober vibe: (cozy, spooky, archivist, etc?)
    • My Blogtober “aura”: assign a color to the vibes and combine the two best ones
My inspiration for this idea, not sure how I want to create the auras yet!
  • The most repeated word this month was [].
    • I mentioned [candy, drink, animal, snack, activity] [] times. #Obsessed

  • Talk or treat, treat ranking

  • Top categories (other than Blogtober)
  • Movies watched, music listened to, with average ratings
  • Number of pumpkin spice/ seasonal foods consumed/ cups of coffee drank

…and anything else that is specific/ fun to you to include in your “wrapped”!

Chances are, if you choose to make your own visuals, it will turn out way better than mine lol but I wanted to share a zip of some blanks cards that I featured in my design image for you to use if you would like to! Just click the zip below (let me know if this doesn’t work).

My main font in Canva was League Spartan, I just chose one that was close enough to my inspo pic. Everything else was either a free graphic in Canva or found on Pinterest.

Closing Out

Only four days left of October! Are you happy that it is ending, or sad? How do you feel about personal stats? I feel like I see more and more of people who feel weird about app data and statistics, but I find them fun. I mean, if our data is being recorded, the least apps can do is give us fun pictures to tell us what they’ve gathered!

If you have treated yourself today, let me know what you did or had. I will see you all tomorrow!

  1. Blogtober wrapped is going to be so cool! Thank you for sharing your plans for it, in case any of us want to participate. I get what you mean about companies collecting data…on one hand I get excited to see Spotify wrapped, but sometimes it gets a little scary to realize just how much these companies know about me.

  2. Hex codes are fun to use, I have used them for years in web design. I picked up some treats for the kiddos in my neighborhood but I’ve had no kids come too, I live in an HOA. I think the kids like to go elsewhere…

  3. I don’t do Spotify Wrapped, but this looks like it will be good.

The end of October makes me sad. It’s getting darker, it’s getting colder, and around here it seems to get colder kind of suddenly around the end of October and beginning of November.

I did not treat myself today, but I made a cheeseburger at home for dinner…
