It has been a while since I have shared a Mail Monday, and with the heat wave going on over here it is a good time to stay in the AC and catch up! My outgoing and incoming mail has decreased a lot since June, and now I am just waiting for World Postcard Day to send out another batch of cards.
First, here are some of the ATCs I have received, all from the US through the Swapbot website.
Next I sent out a birthday zine, I was working on a tutorial for these memory keepsake zines, but Beef passed shortly after I began drafting it. It is very similar to the method I used to create my Dopamine menu, just digital collaging.
Here are all of the postcards I sent out in July. They went out to Germany, the UK, Luxembourg, Canada, and Norway. I still have many birthday postcards so they are slowly getting sent out. I ordered some cards from a local bookstore and I am very happy with them! They choose an artist to design a postcard every year, and there are many book lovers on Postcrossing so it works out.
Above are some of my favorite cards I’ve received, the first from the US, then a German sent the next card from his France trip, and lastly a maxi card from Australia.
The last thing I’ve sent out are these two ATCs. The recipient said they enjoy water and purple colors, and I thought these were well suited to her interests! I sent two cards since these are simple designs.
I have yet to get my hands on the official Postcrossing international stamps, but that is on my list before writing all of my Postcard Day cards.
They are probably the coolest US international stamps I’ve ever seen. I absolutely love the artwork and colors, and the triangle shape that’s perfect for the corner of a card.
This was a very short post compared to what I normally like to write, but I haven’t been sending much mail! Lately I have been trying a lot of new recipes, spending some time outside before it gets too hot, and reading like it’s no one’s business.

You have a very fun hobby, Katelyn! Biking is one of my happy places and I’ve been kept from it due to the desert heat in summer, 110 degrees is not good biking weather. Stay cool, have a great week!

Even with a breeze it would be HOT, I agree! You are more prone to dehydration because of the dry heat, right? Hopefully you can bike soon!

Right, you can’t let the low humidity fool you. it’s deadly hot and dehydration is a real threat.

Wow this is so cool!! I never thought of collecting postcards before now. I might start reading again and collecting books as my postcards collection. Thank you for helping me figure out and get into a new (old) hobby. Hope you collect more postcards and enjoy them.

Music, photography, writing, and reading are my hobbies. I find it so cool that you’re into collecting postcards and that you’re having fun with them. Enjoy your hobbies and never tune them out.

Hope you did ok in the heat! I think it’s more humid where you live than where I live, so that makes 105 feel a lot more uncomfortable than what I’m used to.

International stamps have been circles for a while now, but I think all of the standard rate stamps are always square. Jackson Gibbs is the illustrator for the new stamps. In an interview with Postcrossing he said he is from the desert, but didn’t specify where. Either way. I definitely get that Tex-Mex vibe too!

Waittttt, I need to hear all about this sending and receiving of post cards! How does it work?! I love the postcard with the orcas!

I want to make a whole how-to post since my info about it is scattered around on the blog 🤣 but Postcrossing.com is a website where you send and receive postcards from around the world. The profiles and addresses are totally randomized, and when you pull a profile, you are given a code to write on the card. When the person receives your card, they enter the code, and your profile will be sent randomly to the next person who wants to send a card!
since it is totally randomized and your address dissappears from the sender after you receive the card, it is pretty safe. I still have a P.O. box just in case.
I’ve come across tons of parent-run accounts for their kids, as well as teachers who send out their student’s cards for them to practice writing in English or to just learn about places around the world.
It’s free to make an account. The only thing you pay for is postage and the cards!
