A few months ago, my now ex was going back and forth on wanting me to live with him or not. One day he would share Zillow listings with me and discus which room would be used for what, and the next day I would bring it up and he would act really weird about it. Well, I started thinking and with our medium distance relationship, it would be beneficial for me to move closer to him anyway. It might even be better to have my own space, so I gave up the idea of moving in with him and decided to look for something solo.

Living alone wasn’t a bad idea to me, and when I was looking around at places to rent, my mom suggested a camper. The freedom of being able to move my home anywhere really enticed me, as well as paying to own something instead of all of my money going to rent, especially if I was planning on spending a lot of time with my now ex. I’d also be able to live at home during the winter, when camper life would be tough.

I started looking for campers and looked at a few, but I decided to hold off. It just didn’t seem like I had found the perfect one for me. Well, as you have probably gathered, I don’t have a partner anymore, but it wasn’t long after I had become single that a used camper had been listed that checked all the boxes of things that I needed.
It was a good size, price, and the layout was what sold me. I ended up with a 2015, 25 foot Starcraft Launch Ultra Lite 22BUD camper.

I think it is important to note that I did do a lot of research into the maintenance that goes into keeping a camper in good shape for staying in, as well as the daily to-dos and how to go about tanks, the battery, and propane.
Just because the reason for your plans change, doesn’t mean that the plans are cancelled. I have the opportunity to travel wherever I want, and I don’t have the restrictions that I once had. I am excited to do things for myself, and I have a lot to learn with this new adventure.

My mom and I went to look at the camper in person and walked out having put a deposit down within the hour. Since the camper has been parked at my mom’s house, I have been spending a lot of time prepping it for its first short camping trip. While I have stayed with family in their camper when I was younger, my parents never had one larger than a pop-up, so I have a lot to learn through experience.
Although I have been struggling off and on while navigating heartbreak, overall I have been feeling good. I still have the friends I’ve made and I still have myself. Near the end, I was feeling so disconnected from myself because of the stress and losing myself while trying to save something which wasn’t salvageable.
Purchasing a camper feels like a redirection of focus onto myself, which is what I need. I cannot wait until springtime to take it on its first trip.

Good for you, Katelyn! I hope you enjoy thousands of miles of happiness in your new camper. The heartbreak and all that goes with it is why I won’t marry again and don’t even date now. It’s not worth the hassle. 😂 Have a great weekend!

This is so inspirational! I like that even tho the original reason behind wanting the camper went, you used initiative and made things happen and found a whole new purpose for it. I hope you go on many adventures and make loads of beautiful memories. All the best ✨️💗

I’m so excited for you! 🥳 Reconnecting with yourself after a breakup is SO important. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures in your camper! I’ve watched different YouTubers who had various camper lifestyles and it’s SO cool to see how they make it work for them. Getting to be on the road and live for a while in different places sounds so exciting!
