Stepping out of my comfort zone of watercolor and trying to create an artist trading card of something that I’ve never drawn before with only highlighters was definitely a learning experience and something I would love to expand upon in the future. This was a swap of three crystal ATCs of my choice so let’s just get into the show and tell.

Labradorite

The first stone I chose to draw and color was Labradorite. Labradorite is one of my favorite crystals because of its iridescence and resemblance of the Northern Lights. You have to hold the stone just the right way in order to unlock its true beauty. Labradorite’s healing properties include breaking through limited beliefs and embracing your true potential

Turquoise

Other than being my birthstone, turquoise has long been an important stone to Native Americans. Its properties are purifying and I chose to draw it because of its beauty. There isn’t just one shade of blue in this stone, but a mixture of greens and deeper shades as well as the natural formed cracks that leave me staring at this stone for hours.

Smoky Quartz

Smoky quarts is a stone that is a new interest of mine. At first I was put off by how “dull” its design was but the neutral colors that form ribbons across a tumbled stone are exactly why I have come to love it after so many years. the properties of this crystal include grounding and an increase in focus.

That is all for this short post! I hope you enjoyed seeing something new that I’ve been trying out and are inspired to step out of your comfort zone yourself. I found that blending was a lot more tricky with highlighters because of the streaks that they leave behind. I will continue to create art with my tried and true materials, but it was a lot of fun to experiement.
