In January I joined a site called PostCrossing. Here’s how it works:

• First, you request to send a postcard. then you will be randomly given an account from around the world to send a postcard to!
• You write the postcard, mentioning awesome things in your area, and you write a special code that the recipient will enter once they recieve your card.
• Then you send it!
• Then you wait. . .
• And then they will register your postcard once they recieve it and send a little note to you saying that they liked your postcard, and once it is registered, another user will randomly get your account to send a postcard to!
• Tada! A postcard in your mailbox.

Since joining, I have sent 2 cards to Russia and 1 card to China!

And just this week, I recieved my first postcard!

Out of all of the countries I expected to recieve a postcard from, Australia wasn’t even considered, and I was so suprised and happy to see the Australian stamp.

I also noticed the “backward” date at the top, and I also thought that was so cool. This was probably the best first postcrossing postcard I could ask for, as the content includes a part of Australian history that is occuring right now.

I definitely encourage anyone with a spare postcard and a couple stamps to join postcrossing and make someone smile, and smile in return as you learn about people from around the world.
