The Chronicles of Living Space

Greetings and salutations, precious grubs <3.

As briefly mentioned in my return post, my mother and I have been tossed into the realm of finding a new home, and it has been both underwhelming and overwhelming at the same time. We are scheduled to go and look at some houses tomorrow after I get out of school, and I am hoping that they will be promising! I already have a few boxes packed up, and honestly, I am disappointed by how much j u n k I have accumulated since moving into my current living situation. My biggest hope is that I will be able to MEGA DOWNSIZE once we move into a new space, as my dreams and ambitions call me to be a van lifer.

I know it will be tough to get rid of so much that I have emotional attachments to, but what can you do? At least I have the opportunity to go through my things before I have to go cold turkey dumping everything out of my life in preparation for living in such a small and awkward space. However, nothing is set in stone, and I know I’ll be able to keep some of my items at my mom’s home (right?).

While yesterday was a blur of houses that ended up looking the same, we finally came to a decision on a lovely home with just enough windows. My family and I have already begun to take things apart and shift things around and we are moving in on the first of March! I did end up going through some of my boxes and got rid of many things I thought I needed before but thought better of. I am very intrigued by the lifestyle minimalists enjoy, and while it is something many people strive for, it is such a difficult task to switch your mind from “buying makes me happy and stuff makes me happy” to “this stuff is just a place holder for my true potential, and it’s time to say goodbye”.

With that small update, many more will come along regarding this topic, and I am excited to document my journey.

Until next time, Katelyn.
