Weekly Wrap-Up (10/5-10/9)

Weekend Recap

On Sunday morning I went to the Apple Festival with Dylan, Aidan, and Mom. This was Dylan’s first time going, but the rest of us try to go every year. This was the 50th anniversary, but there wasn’t anything special when we went except for a banner letting everyone know.

It feels like every year, the Apple Festival has less artist’s work and more 3D printed or boutique clothing booths. The best part about it is the homemade treats. I got some cinnamon sugar roasted nuts and mom got jalepeño peanut brittle and honey comb. This was all before I came home and took care of the guinea pigs and discovered the loss of Apollo. I wrote more about it here.

Today was a great, full day. Tori acted as my alarm clock and I only got one “snooze” before she came right up to my face to be nose-to-wet nose with me, then lick my face and lean on my chest with her full weight. I needed to get up and make some coffee anyway. I ordered Donut’s birthday gifts and mom and I went and spent the day thrifting. We went to 3 thrift stores in an event I coined the “Thrift Crawl”.

We first went to Goodwill, and I found a mug that was discounted and a pet costume witch hat for Tori.

Tori was not a fan of her festive hat

The next store we went to was Potter’s House, which has the potential for great deals with different tags being 25 to 50 cents on certain days of the week. I couldn’t find any great deals there, though.

Lastly, we went to another Goodwill that was along the route home and that is where my mom and I both hit the jackpot.

I really need some new jeans, and I had a hard time finding any. I picked out a pair of barrel jeans and they don’t fit as nice as I wanted in the waist, but I think there’s potential so I may keep them. I am still deciding. I also picked out two vests, one a faux fur vest and the other is a green khaki vest that is so cute. I will share some photos when I wear them out for the first time!

After we got back home, we waited until Dylan got off work to go take some Fall pictures. I had been meaning to have a fall photo shoot at the end of September but I was indecisive if I wanted the photos to be more Halloweenie or just Fall themed. Tori was not in the mood to take photos, but we got some cute ones.

I went to bed early and woke up at a good time, even with Tori being my alarm clock. I can never beat her to it, she knows the exact moment I am about to wake up. I did a lot of laundry, and there is still more to do!

Inspired by Valerie Marguerite, I did the “How Pinterest Sees Me” template, and this is how mine came out:

I had to scroll three 3 or more rows of pure sponsored posts for some of the prompts, but I just chose the first real result even if it didn’t make sense. For example, I tried to scroll and find an actual brand, but looking past the sponsored images, there were absolutely none in my feed. The same happened for the “emoji” prompt. My feed had none and I scrolled for a while just to see if one even existed.

Also my season is a spiral tree that makes me feel uncomfy, its like the uncanny version of a tree- it just looks wrong! I tried to find a selfie that matched the general colors of my results and the best I could do was a random emo pic, which kinda works! I was scared as each result went off the rails, but as a whole I think I like it. Here is the template I used:

I can’t say that anything particularly special happened today, I ate spaghetti squash for dinner and that was the main highlight. In the evening, I took some fun pictures of Tori and Whiskey, but there was hardly a moment that they stood still!

I forgot to share that I got another WordPress achievement a few days ago, Shutterbug. I’m so curious as to what all of the “secret” achievements are, but I haven’t found anyone who has posted a full list lol.

I did a late night run and got the holiday scented Mr. Clean to mop with in the morning. Sometimes you just need something fun to motivate you other than the old regular stuff. Makes it exciting.

In my browsing of the shelves I came across snickerdoodle Dove deodorant. Omg, it smells so good, and it reminds me of Dylan and the snickerdoodle cookie “cake” I made for his birthday 🤣. I didn’t buy any food scented deodorant tonight, though.

Donut’s birthday treats finally came in today!

I gave him a few that I thought he would like the most first, and he immediately took them back to his lair.

The pack came with wood chews, condensed hay treats, forage for his hay, and a string of chew pieces that hangs on the cage. Apollo and Donut never really liked these when I would get them over the years, but I hung it up anyway lol.

Look at his cute little smile, omg 😭!

He melts my heart

After I left him to enjoy his treats and toys, I got to work cleaning the whole house. I got a request to share more of my small business, so I’ll share a bit of me making some of my products.

My detergent mix only has 4 ingredients and the scent oil is the last one, I mix it all in this huge bowl!

At the moment, I make and sell laundry detergent and other home smell-goods. I have many popular scents from Bath and Body Works, Buff City Soap Co., and even candle company scents. I recently got a great deal on some oils for my limited fall scents and I made some of those scents today as well as restocked a year-round scent. Maybe one day soon I will share a “working” day in my life, as I never really talk about it on the blog.

Then, I put the detergent into their containers and print out the stickers that go with them
After the scoops are in, they are complete and the whole house smells good.

Before bed, I washed my hair with a shampoo bar for the first time, I’m not sure if i did it right by just rubbing it on my head to suds it up, I was afraid that all my soap was running down the drain by trying to rub it in between my hands lol! It smells really good and I think it did a good job on my curly hair.

The highlight of today was sewing a pair of leggings. I found some stretchy fabric in my stash that I have had for a while and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I’ve never made any leggings before, but I didn’t use a tutorial or anything.

I just roughly outlined the leg of a pair of leggings I already had then winged it the rest of the way. With the stripes vertical, I kept thinking about circus showgirls.

Me being a goob while testing out my new leggings

As I looked for more inspiration for outfits, I hit myself silly because Steampunk, duh! So I tried to make a Steampunk outfit but kinda failed for my first try. One day I will just have a costume closet, because I started looking at Steampunk goggles and hats on Vinted 🤣. I think it would be more fun to DIY my own embellishments onto a thrifted hat instead of buying a costume one, though.

This was my first attempt, and it isn’t really Steampunk-ish 😭. I will keep experimenting with what I have.

Conclusion

Those were the most notable moments of the second week of October. In the day-to-day moments I think “not much has happened this week”, then I take account of the notable moments for this post and I am surprised at how varied it was. How was your week? Let me know, and I will see you all tomorrow.
