Blogtober Intro and Goals

My favorite time of year has returned, and with it the month-long blogging challenge, Blogtober, has begun! Since it is the first day, there is still time to participate if you are just now reading about it.

This will be my second year attempting to have one post published for every day of October. Last year, I had 20 posts for the month. While that is the most I have ever posted for a single month, is also 11 posts short of completing the daily goal I had set for myself.

Blogtober doesn’t have to be a daily challenge though, you can participate in any way that works for you. You can post on your own schedule, set every other day goals or even post once a week. The posts don’t even have to be Autumn or Halloween themed. You can write about anything.

Below are my favorite posts from last year to give you an idea of some of the content I will be posting this month.

I follow many daily bloggers, however I am not even close to being one of them. I admire the writers who have a steady flow every day. I am lucky to get a weekly post up, and if I feel a mental block it is not uncommon for my blog to have a month (or even longer) break. While my goal of 31 posts is a minimum quota for someone’s blog, it is a true challenge for me. Planning, writing, and scheduling posts for this month began in August.

You may be thinking “That sounds like a lot!”, but it really helps me to have time to write a post that I am happy with, and have days that I can come up with ideas or work on posts over multiple days if I want to. I start getting into a spooky spirit the second I see fall items in stores, so I am itching to do all the seasonal things before the heat even dies down from summer. Writing some posts in advance scratches that itch!

Posting with a theme does help me get more in the spirit of the season, so I love incorporating themed posts. I pulled some inspiration from what I posted last year, so a new themed playlist post, as well as weekly wrap-ups will be returning. While some prompts will be featured for a second year, part of the fun for me was coming up with new ideas.

There will be a Mail Monday, Talk or Treat every Tuesday (stay tuned to learn more!), another Mid-Month R.E.P.O.R.T., challenges, writing prompts, themed spooky or autumnal posts, and regular lifestyle posts! So much to look forward to, mwahahaha!

Personal and Blogtober Goals for the Month

  • 1 post every day
  • Watch one new-to-me movie
  • Follow new-to-me blogs that will be participating this year
  • Throw a themed party
  • ATTEMPT to complete the Novelist WordPress achievement. I know I should already have it, but for some reason WP has only counted 16k words across ALL of my posts. How does that even make sense? I want that achievement!
  • DIY some Halloween Decorations
  • Carve a pumpkin
  • Clear up my WP drafts

Here’s to 31 days! Let me know if you are participating in Blogtober this year, or what your goals are for this month. I will see you all tomorrow. Let the festivities begin, mwahahaha!

  1. Indeed, this should be a fun month! I think you’ll reach your goal this year. You seem very determined and that’s great!

We’ll see a lot of changes outdoors this month and I am looking forward to all of it. It’ll be fun seeing where your imagination and adventures takes the blog this month, too.

Watching a new movie (your goal) makes me think of the old outdoor theater we used to have. Watching movies there when the weather was starting to get a little cooler was such a vibe.🍃🎃🍂
