When I got my Postcrossing cards from October/November, I immediately hung them up on my boyfriend’s fridge. Over the months I have switched the cards from photo-side to writing-side and I recently got the itch to send out some more.

When I was younger I would send out cards often, but postage has gone up and life has gotten in the way, so there are usually large gaps in-between sending out cards (much like the gaps in my poor blog). I sat down and decided to write five cards to whatever international address I got, and however many US I would receive scattered throughout.

Even though I usually get at least one US card, this time I didn’t get any. I also didn’t receive repeat countries, so every card is going somewhere different!

Here’s a look at the cards I sent out in the month of April:

Every time I sit down to do some Postcrossing, I send out one of these cards. Actually, I think I sent out two of them on World Postcard Day. I have many of them because they are a very classy card, and for some reason it is hard to find nice Arkansas postcards nearby. I feel like the postcards come and go, and you have to hunt for good local art or names on a postcard. This card is going to Germany!

I have had this card for as long as I have liked postcards, and have never gotten the opportunity to send it to someone. This recipient’s birthday is in May, and they requested birthday cards, so I knew I absolutely had to send it. I love this vintage Aries Zodiac card, complete with an advertisement in the poem haha. I had to try and see if Sagittarius was anywhere on the web and I did actually end up finding it. This card is going to the Netherlands!

When I was in Oklahoma City a few years ago I stepped into this art shop called Bombs Away Art. All of his designs are awesome, and while I only got a few postcards, I’ve always wanted to come back and get a t-shirt from him. I could stare at his prints in awe but I figured it was finally time to share this talent, all the way to Czech Republic!

This recipient stated a desire for handmade or upcycled cards, and again this is one I have had in my stash for a long time. I made this in my high school senior art class with acrylic paint and gel stamping. It was at the end of our project so I made a couple pages of my own to cut out and make into postcards. It only took me about 5 years to find the perfect person to send it to 😅.

That is the majority of my collection, cards I have accumulated over the years that wait patiently for their person. These have a more warm feeling to me than some regional cards, but everyone has their preferences. This Spring-time card is traveling to Latvia!

Last but not least, I chose to send a metal and rock fan this very fitting “Kansas to the Bone” card. The vibe of this card paired well with their profile and I also really enjoy this card. This print was drawn by an artist local to Wichita, where my mom got this card for me, and now it will make it’s way to Finland!

Postcards come in a wide variety of designs, and picking the right one for a person is rewarding, even if the message is personally my favorite part. I always try to fill up the whole writing space with simple but fun information such as my name, age, what’s going on in the area that I live in, etc. Because although we may live seas apart we all share a lot of commonalities in our likes, dislikes, hobbies, and values.

I wish all of these cards safe travels, and as always I am eagerly awaiting the next piece of mail that is delivered to my post office!
