Mid-Month Blogtober Check-In

Can you believe that we are already halfway through October? When I was preparing for Blogtober, I had no idea just how fast i would go by, and how fun it would be to follow along with other bloggers as we took on the challenge together.

Researching Blogtober, I came across a few critiques from people who chose not to participate, saying that it is a pattern for those who finish Blogtober to not write much for the rest of the year. I think this is a valid criticism, as it may be better to have a more regular schedule of posts with time in between each, as to not get burnt out. Because of this, my goals for Blogtober started to take form.

Blogtober 2025 Goals

  • Stop being a perfectionist in my writing
  • Become comfortable with writing fast
  • Broaden my post ideas and prompts
  • Actually participate in my favorite hobby instead of fearing it

So far I am very proud in my progress. I have written blog posts that I enjoy and I am learning a lot about my writing habits. I will say that yesterday I was not a fan of the prompt I had planned to write about, and I waited until I got home from my concert at 11:30 to get my post out at 11:57, and it says that it was posted on the 16th. I cried a little on the inside but I know the truth!

I still will say that I have not failed, and honestly I have found that with my prior planning, I have not really struggled to write as much as I thought I would. So many times throughout the years I have sat down with my fingers on the keys and my mind would just blank. I wanted to meet around a thousand words, I wanted it to be super interesting when I felt like my life wasn’t interesting, and I was just struggling with ideas.

But all this ever has been is a hobby, my corner of the internet where I can talk about whatever I want, so why did I care about what 20 people see when they come to my blog? I did good with a few schedules posts and then I would fall off, feeling too intimidated to continue. So I do understand what people are saying about bloggers disappearing for a while after Blogtober, because this challenge requires a lot of time, commitment, and if you don’t write a lot in general throughout the year, you are bound to burn out.

Having to produce and upload a blog every day, I have loosened up on the perfection, especially because some of my posts are longer. I don’t give myself rules on writing, whatever i think up is what is on the page. This is a diary-style hobby blog, and I am repeating this so much because I need to hear it! Quick ideas, quick writing, and having fun while doing it is my priority. So I have already planned to return to weekly posts in November, and after all this practice I think I will be successful.

If you are thinking about doing Blogtober for numbers and stats- I would first suggest that you have a blog with a clear niche and second that you are very familiar with SEO and marketing. For an irregular hobby blogger like me, I have around the same amount of views on each post as any other post I have published since last year. I attribute this to my wonderful blogger mutuals and friends, I rarely see new profiles who like my posts or comment.

Every once in a while this month I have had a post do very well for my standards, and I have also had posts that no one have clicked on. Your yearly and monthly stats will go up because of the regularity of posts, however if its the same number of viewers per post I would not attribute that to growth, if that makes sense.

I do find stats interesting, however it just ends at being “interesting”. I blog because I love writing and documenting and experimenting, and I have done a lot of that this month! Food posts, video game posts, and movie reviews are some of the writing prompts I have experienced for some of the first times. Food blogging is hard!

All in all, Blogtober has treated me well, I feel like I planned really well for this in September, so everything is going pretty smooth!

How has your October been so far? If you are participating in Blogtober, how has it been going? Lets continue to enjoy the middle of fall and enjoy October to the fullest.

  1. Your style of blogging is very different from mine which is focused on Photography with a bit of comments. I think you do a great job and I would enjoy daily posts from you!

  2. Writing consistently is difficult for many reasons. Some people write with a specific interest and audience in mind, while others are more like you, and it’s a form of creative expression. Both types of writers struggle to know what their audience will enjoy reading. One of my favorite things about your style of writing is that you often include educational material, whether it be ‘historical value’ one day and ‘creative inspiration’ another day. Your tone is also rather funny at times, giving us a glimpse into the personality that lives behind your preferences.
