Hi WordPress friends! Ever since March I have been a lot more social on my blog, and have since been inspired by the many new people I have subscribed to. One of those inspirations is to write my very first monthly wrap-up.

I had no idea this was a thing up until two months ago, and after reading Poorwa and Niv’s monthly wrap-ups I want to write one of my own. I would like to thank them for this idea and I encourage you to go check out their blogs. While most of the wrap-ups I’ve seen are about books the writer’s have read, I still have yet to get back into reading (even though I love it). Hopefully this summer there will be books added to these wrap ups, as I plan to continue writing them in the future.

If i were to describe this past month in one word it would be SUSPENSION. Around the middle of the month I had an event occur that made me have to take a step back and evaluate the choices I was making. Since then I have been caught in a current and trying to fight the waves in order to turn the tides and become my best self. I hope I can start to feel better about myself throughout the end of spring into summer.

Hobbies

Swapbot– I have been trying to ease my way back into my hobbies after losing them in a long spell of depression. My all time favorite hobby was watercolor painting and trading my art with other artists on a website called swapbot.com. Over the years I have traded baseball card sized pieces of art with dozens of other talented artists. Here is a card I traded recently <—.

The theme of this swap was Cyclops, and I decided to create an arctic, primal snow cyclops, and I think she turned out great! Painting anything besides nature is out of my comfort zone, so I’m just glad this cyclops didn’t turn out a muddy mess.

Clash of Clans– Every single time I unlock my phone, there is a big chance I’m going to check up on my village in Clash of Clans. I am not ashamed of this current obsession, and I am proud of my progress 😂. It kind of feels like passive gratification, I go on the app, click around to upgrade things, raid a village, and go on with the day haha. Since December I have leveled up and expanded my village and the slow build is satisfying.

Blogging & Vlogging: In the month of April I published 2 blog post and 1 vlog video. This month has been pretty hectic in terms of my personal life so I am not disappointed in these numbers, I’m happy I posted anything at all.

My favorite thing about having my own internet space is the satisfaction of adhering to a personal schedule. I successfully published a blog post for every week of March and while I felt super accomplished, I fell off track in the month of April. Because I love having consistent posts, I want to wait until I am able to commit to multiple posts before I publish again.

Music

Don’t ask me how, but the top song I played this month was I Kissed a Girl by Katy Perry. A cover of this song came up in my Tik Tok For You Page and since then I just had to listen to it a couple more times.

The song that I think should have had the number one spot is Hills Like White Elephants by Isles & Glaciers. This is the band that Vic Fuentes is in before he became the lead singer in Pierce The Veil. I am an undercover emo so my music taste has a lot of the classics, and Pierce The Veil is my current favorite band besides Dance Gavin Dance.

Dexter and the Moonrocks was a band I was going to see in concert but I had a moment and couldn’t attend 😐.

Fallout: I am not a big TV series person but every now and then I do hop onto the trends and see what everyone is going crazy over. When I tell you I binge watched this 8 episode season, I mean I binged it in 2 days. With each episode being around an hour long, that is a lot of watching for me!

While it isn’t really the same vibe as the video game, it has that familiar plot line and I actually appreciate the dorkiness of some of the scenes. The concept of the vaults is so interesting to me and I spent some time on YouTube researching about every known vault in the games. In my opinion, this was an enjoyable series whether you are a fan of the video games or only know the game by its name. I would rate this show a 10/10, I am ready for season two already!

Month Reflection

April was the start of the concert season at my summer job. I work as security at a concert venue and no, I do not have to tackle people, I usually just answer questions and make sure no one is trying to sneak in or sneak alcohol out of the concert. I work whenever there is a concert so it is mostly just something I do for extra cash but they do pay well.

I have spent the past month obsessed with sweet tea and guacamole. They are both relatively easy and simple to make and they are both so delicious, I think my brain skipped spring and went straight into summer. I don’t blame it though, because I had a horrible sinus infection at the beginning of April.

In a couple of days I will finish out my junior year of college and I will be taking some kind of break. I’m going home! I plan on doing some kind of online courses through a college closer to home and doing part time instead of being a full time college student. I have never felt more incapable of something, and it is time for me to slow down and reevaluate what path I want to take. In ways my life feels kind of up in the air, suspended.

In the month of May I wish to become more comfortable being myself, and try to find some sort of confidence or self assurance. Well, here we go into the next quarter of 2024!
